Over 36 years as a player at the amateur club level, that is an accomplishment through and through. Steve Paul began playing soccer at age six with the German Hungarians. From 1966 to 1977, Steve would play his entire youth career with them in the United Junior Soccer League being selected to the All-Star Team multiple times.

From 1977 to 1978, Paul played on the German Hungarians Reserve Team before he was moved up to the Major team in the United Soccer League of Pennsylvania. In 1977 would begin his storied career in East Penn amateur soccer. He played until 1981 with the GH Majors, from 1981-1986 he was with Alex Ely’s America in the First Division and then starting in 1984 in the Major of the United League. In 1982, Steve spent two weeks with the Philadelphia Fever of the Major Indoor Soccer League. From 1986 to 1988, Paul played with Phoenix SC’s Second Division Inter-County League Team and moved up to the First Division Team from 1988 to 1995. From 1995 to 2002, Steve Paul finished his career as a player with Phoenix SC’s O-30 team in the United League.

In high school, Paul also played for Council Rock High School graduating in 1977. In 1976 he was All State Honorable Mention and was selected to the All Lower Bucks 1st team. He was named team MVP that same year.

Paul first coached the Council Rock United Youth Intramural Program from 1976 to 1978. He then coached the Phoenix SC First Division Team from 1989 to 1995. Then the Phoenix SC O-30 from 1995-1999. From 2003 to 2004, he coached the German Hungarians U-11 Girls and from 2006 to present, he coaches the Erzgebirge U-17 Boys.

From 1994 to 1999, Steve Paul was the Phoenix SC Sports Director. He was elected to the German Hungarians Board of Governors in 1998 and serves to this day. In 2005, he was elected Chairman by that board, and this year he was r-elected to that post. It was his first and to this day club, the United German Hungarians who nominated Steve for induction to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Hall of Fame, formerly the Philadelphia Old-Timers Assn.
