With the help of uscupsoccer’s Michael Fricker, USASA Region I has launched what is being called the “tradition-we play soccer,” campaign on social media promoting their regional finals this weekend.

That is the 1963 Ukrainian Nationals that won the US Open Cup. The regional finals are taking place at the Ukrainian American Sport Center, the contemporary home of the Nationals that now play in the historic East Penn United Soccer League of Pennsylvania.

For the US Amateur Cup, the campaign uses a unique example from the past. Philadelphia Inter, coached by the legendary Walt  Chyzowych, won the Amateur Cup in 1973 and 1974. That is Walt on the left.

The schedules for the weekend’s matches are available at www.usasaregion1.com
